A little bit
about me my name is John Wogan I was born in
Wigan in 1947
. Wigan is in the UK in between Liverpool and Manchester . I became
interested in Genealogy in 1989 through my Aunt
when she came over for a vacation from the USA she wanted to trace her roots we
only went back one generation . From then on I got interested on the Family
Tree where I have traced my Ancestors back to Ireland 1777 then I hit a brick wall. I did manage to send my Aunt all the data before
she died in Ohio ,
my Grand mother Margaret also died there.
I had a bit of luck I was surfing the web and I came across this it was unbelievable after trying to find my Ancestor in Ireland
14th August 1806, WOGAN, James, son of Catherine and John Wogan, Private, 44th Regiment of Foot it was taken from Chaplain to the forces on Malta .It not only showed a wife for John but also a son. With documentation that I have from Army records it is 99% certain that this record is correct .
Another breakthrough found from Army records John Wogan was born in St Mary's Parish Drogheda Co Louth Ireland.1777/78
Recent findings another son born to John and Catherine born Wigan 19th July 1825 .
Found the death of Catherine Wogan in Lancaster Lunatic Asylum. Catherine Wogan aged 75 years late of Wigan death by old age and debility 18/4/1857 .In the 1851 Lancashire census Lancaster Lunatic Asylum her age was obscure and stated that she was from Drogheda , Ireland .

Hindley. Alice died on the 14th of
July 1918 childless.
James re married on the 5th of October the same year to Margaret Alice Wells
nee Schofield at Wigan
