I managed to go to Ireland to go back to my roots this year I stayed in Drogheda the birthplace of my Ancestor John Wogan. I took my car across on the ferry and I visited a lot of townships along the way which have Wogan connections. I met Gerard Wogan who owns the Wogan Timber and Building supplies in Drogheda we had a very interesting chat he is very nice man .Gerard's family originated from Slane. I enjoyed my trip immensely the only regret is that I could not trace my roots any further back after 2 trips to Dublin to check the records I have now given up into going any further back .I am trying to trace Catherine ????????? from Drogheda who married John Wogan the soldier there must be some record somewhere in the Military records of the marriage. I took a few pictures when I was there.

| Rathcoffey Castle situated to the north of
Clane Co Kildare without a doubt the baronial home of the Wogan family in
Ireland .The lands of Rathcoffey were granted by the king in 1317 to Sir
John Wogan, as a reward for his family’s loyalty and service to the crown .Rathcoffey
Castle stayed in the hands of the Wogan family until the eighteenth century
when John Wogan died without an heir and the castle came into the hands of
the Talbot family (Malahide castle) .It was sold in the 1780's to Archibald
Hamilton Rowan, future United Irish leader .All what is left of the Castle
is the keep in the foreground the castle was demolished to build a house for
Archibald Hamilton Rowan in background. At the present time there is no
right of way to the castle there are legal proceedings to alter this.
